Inauguration of the school year

Today was the inauguration of the 2013-2014 School Year. Students, teachers and parents shared a nice ceremony welcoming new and old students to a new year of school. After the all school ceremony, we had a short meeting with Verónica, Mateo's preschool teacher. I volunteered to be the parent coordinator since I want to help as much as I can in the school. It was great to learn that Joaquin, Mateo's friend, will also join this school and will be his classmate. Mateo, Isaid his cousin, and Joaquin will be three of the 17 children in his class.

Yesterday as soon as Mateo got up in the morning he asked me for a piece of paper and pencil. I asked why and he said, "I need to draw a person". Here it is what he did. " It has eyes, nose, mouth, arms, legs and feet" he said. It looks pretty good to me!

Counting down: Seven days to go!

And the day is fast approaching when Mateo will join preschool. Everyone is excited and looking forward to our new lives. Mateo will go to a great Waldorf Preschool, Pat will have more time to read, play music and just enjoy his free time and I will enjoy my free time and prepare to be a Waldorf Teacher. It has been 4 years and 4 months caring for this child at home and now he will start to grow his own wings and be gone from home everyday from 8:00 - 3:00. I hope to record in this blog his experiences and ours as we walk this path that starts now and will last the next 14 years?
